- Brand Yourself
- Create Relationships
These two things are critical, you must do them if you want to have any type of success in network marketing. (Most people don't do this, most people don't know the first thing about how to use Facebook for network marketing. By reading this blog post, you're ahead of 99% of network marketers already, so hats off to you for that).
How to Recruit for Network Marketing Using Facebook
Branding yourself is so important because we all know that people buy from, and join, people – not companies! Also, people join people that they know, like and trust. You need to brand yourself so people see you as that leader. When done correctly, this will make people contact you and want to work with you. When you realise and make this shift, that this is how to use Facebook for network marketing, the whole game changes…
Creating relationships is so important. People don't want to buy from people who just say “Here, buy my stuff” or “Hey, join my business opportunity.” If they wanted to do that, they could just as easily go to Google, and join someone else or get the products themselves. What people want is a genuine relationship, someone who is going to help them get to where they want to go.
How to Create Relationships on Facebook
You need to expand your social circle on Facebook, every day. This means adding and messaging new people every day, preferably in the home business industry, as these are people looking for what you have to offer. Click here to learn more about your ideal prospects.
The mistake I see people make here is they message someone, and they say, and then BANG, they lead with their business opportunity…
If you're doing this, I need to ask you… How is it working out…?
Chances are… Not very well…
That's ok, we've all been there at some point, many of us are even taught to do this.
What should you say when you message people on Facebook?
Say hi, and strike up a genuine conversation. Look through the person's profile, and find something that you can chat about. Where they're from, pictures they have up, a sports team etc. You want to build the relationship, rather than just talking about business right from the get go. Remember, people buy from people they know, like and trust. This is why we create the relationship – people can't get to know, like and trust you if you just pitch them on your business.
I'll tell you why it's so bad to just pitch people on your business. If someone adds me, and pitches me on their business right away, they've blown it. I won't buy their product or join them, no way! When you approach people like this, they know that you just want their money, and they won't join you, even if you have the best product in the entire world, I promise you, people won't join you if you do this. In fact, this is the quickest way to ruin a relationship with someone.
So to recap, don't pitch. Add or message 10 people a day, in the home business industry, and create genuine connections with them. They may not join you today, or tomorrow, maybe 6 months down the line the time will be right for them to join you or buy something from you.
* Don't be fooled into thinking that messaging more is always better. If you overdo anything on Facebook, they can put you in Facebook jail. Here's some of my tips for avoiding that.
You may have heard that it takes an average of 7 exposures for somebody to buy something, and sometimes it's even more. I've had people join me after 3 or even 6 months. Create the relationship, and be there for them when the time is right.
